Congratulations to our Asa E. Low Jr Intermediate School Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Lynn Cannaday! Mrs. Cannaday is an outstanding educator who started at Asa Low in 2009 as a 5th grade Math Teacher and shifted over to Asa Low’s Technology Teacher beginning in 2012 where she has faithfully and dutifully served students, parents, and colleagues ever since. In addition to teaching her full load of 5th and 6th grade classes, Mrs. Cannaday serves the campus as the unofficial technology support person. When anyone has a problem with computers, projectors, printers…whatever…Mrs. Cannaday is the first person that is called. Mrs. Cannaday can fix just about any technology issue and she somehow finds the time to do it during the school day. In addition to these roles, Mrs. Cannaday serves as the campus point person for the 5th Grade Camp Field Trip in the Fall and the 6th Grade Field Trip to Six Flags in the Spring. This requires a lot of coordinating, scheduling, and making numbers work; in other words, a lot of behind the scenes work that is not very glorious. Mrs. Cannaday is a self-starter and takes initiative by seeking out where others need help. This year Mrs. Cannaday has helped teachers with Intervention during WIN time, tutoring students in Math and Reading before school, and even working lunch supervision duty when we are short-handed. Finally, Mrs. Cannaday also helps sponsor our Drama Club after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If there is one word that sums up Mrs. Cannady, it is “servant.” She truly goes above and beyond the call of duty with a happy heart and without complaint because that is her mission in life! Asa E. Low Jr Intermediate School is truly blessed to have Mrs. Cannaday!
