MISD Seeking Community Members for Attendance Zone Committee
Posted 12/20/2017 09:37AM

A review of attendance zones is needed in order to address Mansfield ISD’s continued growth and accommodate the district’s newest campuses.

According to a demographer’s report presented at the December school board meeting, the southern and southeastern portion of MISD is developing at a rapid rate.

An Attendance Zone Review Committee will provide feedback in addressing the attendance zones for the new Brenda Norwood Elementary, Alma Martinez Intermediate and Charlene McKinzey Middle schools, which are scheduled to open in fall 2020.

Committee members will also review high school attendance zones, focusing on the growth of Lake Ridge High School, to prevent future overcrowding.

The zoning recommendations will be sent to the MISD Board of Trustees in April 2018.

Attendance Zone Committee Application

For consideration to be a member of the committee, interested parties must be able to attend all meetings, which will be held on Feb. 8, Feb. 15, March 22 and April 9 at 6:30 p.m. Only one member per household will be eligible to serve on the committee.

Complete the application form here. The deadline to be considered for the committee is Friday, Jan. 12.

The committee will consist of 30 members and three alternates. All eligible submissions will be drawn randomly according to the high school attendance zone of residence.

Note: The committee will have districtwide representation with emphasis in the southern and southeastern portions of MISD.
